What is the best way to search for Users?

Clients can only search for users within their own organization.

Users should be able to use either the '%' or '*' as wildcard characters.

There must be at least 2 characters before any wildcards in the Last Name.

The First name field is optional. If it is provided, a wildcard will be appended at the end. If it is not provided, a wildcard will be assumed.

Multiple wildcards may be used within the same field (i.e. Last Name: Smi%so% First Name: John% Middle Name: )

Single character wildcards ('_' and '?') will not be used.

An implied wildcard is appended to last name, middle name and first name if the entry is not blank.

Accent, case and punctuation insensitive.

If there are more than 200 records returned from a search then the results will be divided into pages with 200 records showing on each page. For example, Page 1 would display records 1-200, Page 2 would display records 201-400, etc. These pages will be navigated using the following buttons:

  • First - Displays the first page of results.
  • Previous - Displays the previous page of results.
  • Next - Displays the next page of results.

The page number and record counts will be displayed at the top of the page in the format records X of Y, where X is the range of records displayed on the page and Y is the total number of records returned from the search.
