FREDERICTON (GNB) – Liam and Olivia have tied for New Brunswick’s most popular baby names in 2023, followed by Theodore and Emma.

Other popular baby names this year were Noah, Benjamin, James, Charlotte, Oliver, William, Jacob and Violet.

Preliminary results released by the Vital Statistics Office at Service New Brunswick show that 4,642 births were registered in the province from Jan. 1 to Dec. 15.

“I want to congratulate everyone who welcomed a new addition to their family in 2023,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Mary Wilson. “Our children are our future, and we must make decisions today that will help build a stronger province and economy for future generations.”

There were 6,187 babies born in New Brunswick in 2022. The most popular names that year were Noah, Liam, William, Jack, Thomas, Oliver, Benjamin, Olivia, Emma, Amelia, Jacob, Theodore, Owen, Henry, Logan, Levi, James, Violet, Charlotte and Hudson.
