FREDERICTON (GNB) – Service New Brunswick’s new vendor outreach program registered more than 800 online vendors and attracted more than 450 suppliers to recent information sessions on doing business with the government.

“There are tremendous opportunities to sell goods and services to the government, and the information shared at these sessions will help businesses learn how to participate in the procurement process,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Ed Doherty. “Our goal is to improve the way the government works and increase the number of bids we receive from New Brunswick businesses on our tenders.”

The sessions, entitled Procurement 101, were held in six locations around the province. They explained how and what the government purchases, the processes that are followed, how to access business opportunities, how to register with the government’s electronic tendering system, and also offered bidding tips to vendors.

An online version of the information sessions has been posted on Service New Brunswick’s new strategic procurement website. The site provides information about the government procurement process, online tendering through the New Brunswick Opportunities Network, procurement legislation and trade agreements. Visitors will also find training videos and a page answering frequently asked questions.

“Our new website is a great resource for learning more about the public procurement process,” said Doherty. “Creating opportunities for New Brunswick businesses in this way helps grow our economy and create jobs.”
