CAMPBELLTON (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $1.7 million to upgrade facilities and laundry equipment at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

“These upgrades will help generate savings and result in improved productivity for the laundries facility at the hospital,” said Energy and Mines Minister Donald Arseneault. “This is an important investment made to upgrade the equipment, and we will see the benefits to our health-care system in the region for years to come.”

Arseneault spoke on behalf of Ed Doherty, minister responsible for Service New Brunswick.

The funding will be used to renovate the physical plant and buy new washers, dryers and a tractor-trailer to transport linens in northern New Brunswick. The refurbishment is expected to be completed this fall.

“The renewal of and, especially, the modernization of the laundry equipment at the Campbellton Regional Hospital will maintain and ensure the expanded mandate conferred on it during the past few years,” said Jacques Duclos, chief operating officer, Restigouche zone, and vice-president of public health, Vitalité Health Network. “We will be pleased to collaborate with Service New Brunswick on this file of common interest.”

These upgrades are part of $3.4 million in capital investments being made in laundry services by Service New Brunswick in the 2016-17 fiscal year.
