FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government announced the appointment of a new board of directors for Service New Brunswick.

“I am pleased to welcome these new members,” said Ed Doherty, minister responsible for Service New Brunswick. “They bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles which will help fulfil the corporation’s mandate as the new centralized common services organization across government.”

Service New Brunswick has absorbed the functions of the New Brunswick Internal Services Agency, the Department of Government Services and FacilicorpNB. It will continue to provide government services to the public.

“The move to centralize services represents our commitment to being smart and focused in our efforts to reduce government spending,” said Doherty. “Our government is proud of this initiative as we move toward a more efficient delivery of services to government departments and in the health-care system.”

Service New Brunswick became officially operational on Oct. 1.

Following are the biographies of the incoming members:

Elizabeth (Beth) Webster, Fredericton

Webster has more than 25 years of experience in private-sector operations and is currently the vice-president of sales and operations for Populous Global Solutions Inc. She has worked for a variety of companies focused on eLearning, corporate training, and consulting services, serves as a member of the board of directors for the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and is a member of several other non-profit agencies. Webster will act as chair of the board.

Rachelle Gagnon, Irishtown

Gagnon has expertise in finance and human resource management and has held many senior positions on boards and associations at the federal and provincial levels. She has been a member of NB Liquor’s board of directors since 2013. Gagnon has also worked for Service Canada, Université de Moncton and has held various positions with Assumption Life for the past 20 years. Her work also includes involvement with associations such as the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce and the Human Resources Association of New Brunswick. Gagnon will serve as vice-chair of the board.

Mary-Eileen O’Brien, Saint John

O’Brien began her career with the Department of National Defence before entering private practice as a lawyer. She is the owner of Carleton Law Group which specializes in family law, mediation, residential property and wills and estates and has also served as chair of the Canada Pension Plan Appeals Tribunal.

Garth Lawson, Rexton

Lawson has more than 30 years of experience in financial services beginning as a sales manager for Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada in 1980. Since 1994, he has held a number of senior level positions with credit unions and most recently, the Investors Group in Moncton. Lawson is active in his community and participates in non-profit organizations such as Junior Achievement.

Rachel Arseneau-Ferguson, Campbellton

Arseneau-Ferguson began her career as an instructor at Université de Moncton in 1978 and from 1988 until 2012 she held a number of senior level positions in the community college system. She is the president and co-owner of a medical translation company, Centre Transmed, which employs 60 people in the Campbellton area. She is the recipient of numerous entrepreneurial awards and has also been involved in various non-profit associations.

Mireille Saulnier, Tracadie

Saulnier is a lawyer with the firm of Lebouthillier Boudreau Saulnier. She is a graduate of the Université de Moncton law school and is involved with the local chamber of commerce and other community and business organizations.

Roland Cormier, Scoudouc

For the past 30 years, Cormier has worked for the Villa Providence Inc. in Shediac. He has held various positions at Parlee Beach, the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes and has also held numerous leadership positions on boards and commissions.

John McGarry, Fredericton

McGarry worked a number of years in the financial sector before applying those skills in the health-care field. He has more than 30 years of experience in the health-care sector and has held various senior level positions including chief executive officer of the Region 3 Hospital Corporation, and president and chief executive officer of the Horizon Health Network since February 2013.

Gilles Lanteigne, Bathurst

Lanteigne joined Vitalité Health Network as president and chief executive officer in August 2015. With more than 30 years of experience as a senior level manager in strategic positions, he served as executive director of the Champlain Community Care Access Centre for five years and executive vice-president of Accreditation Canada for nine years.

L. Craig Dalton, Fredericton

Throughout his military career, Dalton held several prominent positions including base commander of 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown. He was also the commander of a provincial reconstruction team while serving in Afghanistan, as well as the director of a civil reconstruction and development team while serving in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Dalton was appointed as deputy minister of Public Safety in 2012 and has recently become the deputy minister of Social Development.

Gérald Richard, Fredericton

Richard began his career as an educator in 1992 and later became a principal. Since 2011 he served in various leadership positions in the provincial school districts before becoming the deputy minister of Education and Early Childhood Development (francophone sector).

Judy Wagner, Fredericton

Wagner is the secretary to cabinet and deputy minister of the Executive Council Office. She has more than 26 years of experience working for the provincial government and has held positions with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Executive Council Office including deputy clerk.

Gordon Gilman, Fredericton

Gilman has more than 35 years of public service experience with the provincial government. He was a senior executive with the Regional Development Corporation and an assistant deputy minister at the Department of Health. He was appointed chief executive officer of FacilicorpNB in 2008, deputy minister of Government Services, president and CEO of the New Brunswick Internal Services Agency and president and CEO of Service New Brunswick in 2015. He has most recently been appointed as the CEO of the newly created Service New Brunswick.
