Development and Building Permit
Environment and Local Government
Overview
The building, locating, relocating, demolishing, altering or replacing of a building or structure in an unincorporated area requires a development and building permit.
Eligibility
Anyone building, locating, relocating, demolishing, altering or replacing of a building or structure in an unincorporated area.
Description
The building permit will trigger an inspection to ensure that the structure is built to the National Building Code. Accessory buildings and structures and those buildings and structures that are designed for overnight accommodations and less than 56.08 square meters do not require an inspection but do require a permit.
Building permit forms are available at the Regional Service Commission for the area where the construction takes place.
