FREDERICTON (GNB) – The government’s proposed amendments to the Land Titles Act and Registry Act would allow official documents to be submitted electronically to the new provincial land registration office.

“With the establishment of a centralized land registration office, these amendments are necessary to update the legislation and reflect the expansion of services that will give major stakeholders from across the province the opportunity to submit more documents, including plans, electronically,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Serge Rousselle.

The land registration office, housed in the former courtroom area of the Provincial Building in St. Stephen, is staffed by eight Service New Brunswick employees. The office now has the technology needed to receive land registry documents electronically, which would allow for a smooth transition of services at the new location. Currently, 75 per cent of land registry documents are submitted online.

Land search and property mapping functions will continue to be available at all 13 Service New Brunswick locations across the province.

An official opening of the new provincial land registration office will be held later this year.
