FREDERICTON (GNB) – A new website has been launched by the Residential Tenancies Tribunal to help inform tenants, including students and first-time renters, of their rights and responsibilities.
“Moving is an exciting time, but it can also be stressful,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Ed Doherty. “Ensuring you know your rights and responsibilities as a tenant can help ease the stress of moving. Your government knows how important it is to provide landlords and tenants with information, as well as fair and fast resolutions to conflicts you may be having, and this new website and the Residential Tenancies Tribunal are there to help.”
The new website contains tips for first-time renters, as well as information on security deposits, lease agreements, late rent payments and evictions. It also explains responsibilities related to cleanliness, repairs, and health and safety standards, and provides helpful information for landlords.
The tribunal administers the Residential Tenancies Act, which details the rights and obligations of residential landlords and tenants, as well as the enforcement process.
