FREDERICTON (GNB) – Delivery of all normal postal and parcel services provided by Canada Post to the provincial government has resumed.

The provincial government has been advised that Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have agreed to continue negotiations without the threat of a lockout or strike.

Consequently, contingency plans for the provincial government are being suspended. They will be reactivated should Canada Post or the union give notice of a service disruption.

“While normal government services involving the mail have resumed, we are ready to recommence contingency measures, if required, to ensure that New Brunswickers continue to receive essential services,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Ed Doherty.

The government will continue to monitor the situation. New Brunswickers can access up-to-date information at any time on affected services and alternative delivery methods on the Canada Post service disruption web page and by calling Service New Brunswick TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600.
